Delete your account

Last updated 3 November 2026

The short version. This page is for Apply, the app made by Apply Labs Limited. To delete your account, open Settings in the app, tap Delete Account and enter your password. We close your account at once, and 30 days later we delete it for good. If you cannot sign in, email support@apply-labs.com from the address on your account.

1. Delete it in the app

You delete your account yourself, in the app. Nobody on our team has to approve it. To delete it:

  1. Open Apply and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings and tap Delete Account.
  3. Read the warning, enter your password and tap Delete my account.

There is nothing to send us and no reply to wait for. Your account is closed as soon as you confirm, and you cannot get it back yourself.

2. Ask by email

If you cannot sign in, or you no longer have the app, email support@apply-labs.com from the email address on your Apply account. Say that you want your account deleted, and give your username if you remember it.

We may write back to that address to check that the request came from you.

3. Before you delete

Want a copy of your data first? Ask for it before you delete your account. Email support@apply-labs.com from the address on your account, or write to us from Contact support in Settings. This is a data access request under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and we reply within 40 days. Once your account is deleted for good, the photos and messages in it are gone and we cannot give them to you.

If you pay for a plan. When we close your account, we turn off the renewal of your Silver, Gold or Diamond plan. Nothing you have already paid is refunded. You can also cancel renewal yourself first, under Membership in Settings.

4. What happens next

When you delete your account in the app, we close it at once. If you ask by email instead, we act within 40 days of receiving your request. When we close your account:

  • you are signed out on every device, and you can no longer sign in;
  • your open posts close, and anyone still waiting on them is told they were not selected;
  • applications you sent that are still waiting are withdrawn;
  • you leave your chatrooms, and the other person sees that you left;
  • a paid plan stops renewing.

We keep the closed account on file for 30 days. You cannot sign in to it or reopen it yourself, and your posts and chatrooms stay closed.

After those 30 days, we delete your account for good, as set out below. This cannot be undone. If we must keep the account for longer, for an open complaint, a dispute or the police, we wait until that is over.

5. What we delete

When your account is deleted, we delete:

  • your username, email address and birthday;
  • every photo you added to a post or an application;
  • the messages you wrote in chatrooms;
  • the text of the applications you sent;
  • the title and text of your posts, which other members then see as no longer available;
  • the text of the messages you sent to support.

6. What we keep

  • The closed account itself, on file with our team for 30 days. After that it is erased as set out above.
  • Payment records, such as your plan history and the amounts charged, for 7 years, because Hong Kong tax law requires it.
  • Our team's records of what we did on your account, such as a suspension or a ban, your deletion request, and the topic and dates of your support messages. We keep these for 12 months after your account is deleted, for example to stop a banned member from coming back.
  • Your gender, with no username, email or birthday next to it, so that our member counts stay right.
  • The other person's messages in your old chatrooms. They belong to that person, so they stay; your own messages are gone.
  • Sign-in records that our sign-in provider, Supabase, keeps to protect accounts, such as the IP address and browser of each sign in, for up to 7 days.
  • Anything the law requires us to keep, for an open complaint, a dispute or the police, until that is over.

Stripe, which handles card payments, keeps its own records of your payments under its own privacy policy.

Section 13 of our Privacy Policy covers this too.
